Tae Kwon
Do is a Korean form of martial art Korean Karate. It
definition is The Way of the Hand and Foot (punching and kicking).
There are fundamentally 4 sections to the art: toning up, Sparring,
Forms and Self Defense.
The martial art of Tae Kwon Do is a well rounded complete exercise
program that covers muscle toning, stretching and flexibility,
increasing your strength and stamina through aerobic sparring and
mental challenges through becoming adept at the patterns or
forms.
For the most part classes start out with warm-ups. These warm-up
exercises are calisthenics such as , sit ups, push ups , trunk
rotations, jumping jacks, squats, kicks and various leg stretches.
Certainly you will tighten your abdominals and beef up your arms
just from performing the warm-up exercises. Before you know it,
you'll be doing 50 knuckle joint or triangle push-ups at rapid-fire
pace and will have the fexabliaty to lean up against a wall and
have someone lift your leg up so that your toes touch the wall
behind your ear. Tae Kwon Do will most definitely help you to
become or to stay flexible.
Sparring is within a controlled environment and is not street
fighting and all Tae Kwon Do practitioners wear protective gear:
gloves,helmet , shin guards and feet guards,. Generally you will
spar in three minute rounds. It is basically a from of kick boxing.
Then a one minute rest in which you switch partners, then spar
again and repeat until you become fatigued. You will get extremely
hot and wil be perspiring alot. Punch, Jab, upper cut, side kick,
reverse punch, round house, hammer fist, bob and weave and do it
all over again to build endurance.it's an extreme aerobic
exercise.
when you begin to learn the forms or patterns it can really tax
your mind you will need the abilty to focus and concentrate. Many
of the forms have twenty-six+ distinct movements. Your task is to
recall them, in order, and memorize them proficiently. In essence,
by learning the forms, it can help you to become a better fighter.
For instance, one form might begin witht: high block, front kick
punch left; high block front kick punch right. Turn ninety degrees,
down the center, knife hand left, knife hand right, knife hand
left, spear hand. And so on. If you master these from and movments,
when it comes time to spar or in a real life situation, you can
implement some of these patterns into your predicament.
A lot of people love Tae Kwon
Do , or any of the martial arts styles for that
matter, because it's an all-encompassing exercise program.
Its fun, entertaining,and challenging, and its an excellent
way to get in or to stay in shape. As with any exercise
program, start easy and consult your doctor. If you have not
participated in much physical exertion in a long time, your
muscles will unquestionably be very sore for the first few
weeks of training. Don't be in competition or intimidated by
the other students who may appear to be in better shape that
you are. Everyone started out as a white belt. Just have fun;
and get into it!
